Diving into the ITERS will provide a more in-depth look at the Infant-Toddler Environment Rating Scale (revised).  Participants will examine how the items and indicators in the scale are used to measure quality and identify how to use it to improve the quality of their program for infants and toddlers.
Session 1
The first session of Diving into the ITERS will focus on Space and Furnishings.  The Space and Furnishings in a program impacts the experience of infants and toddlers in a child care program.  Participants will discuss quality indicators for the subscale and plan an environment using the quality indicators.
Session 2
This session of Diving into the ITERS will focus on Listening and Talking.   Language development is a critical task of infants and toddlers.  A quality infant and toddler environment is rich in language which includes helping children understand language, helping children use language and using books with children.  Participants will learn more about this subscale and ways to support children's language development
Session 3
Activities is the third subscale that will be explored in Diving into the ITERS.  Participants will examine the different items in the Activities subscale and how they are a part of  a quality environment for infants and toddlers.
Session 4
Interaction and Program Structure are the final subscales in the Diving into the ITERS series. Participants will be introduced to some of the finer points of the items in the subscales and discuss why they are indicators of quality in infant and toddler programs.
